The myth and demonization of today's Jews, the horrible Russians.

According to the Danish Social Democratic leader Mette Frederiksen, they will attack us, if not today, then tomorrow.

What is the reason for this mass hysteria? What is it that the ruling global class and its corrupt political elite and propaganda press want to hide from us?

Mass psychosis is defined as an epidemic madness that occurs when a large part of society loses all sense of reality and instead falls into delusions. The witch burnings of the 16th and 17th centuries, where thousands of victims, mostly women, were tortured, drowned, or burned alive at the stake, is an example. Nazism in Germany, which today has gained a foothold in NATO-backed Ukraine, and other examples of totalitarianism in recent times are also examples of this mass psychosis. Classical totalitarianism is characterized by the centralist State, which nullifies individual human rights.

Both members of the ruling class and the wage-working class and other ruled, are undergoing a pathological transformation. Rulers such as Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Pol Pot, Kim Il Sung, and Nicolae Ceausescu were put on a pedestal where they were worshipped as gods, while the underclass, the oppressed, became dependent individuals who were subjected to cognitive brainwashing. Joost Meerloo, author of "Rape of the Mind", "compares the reactions of citizens living in totalitarian states to those of schizophrenics. Both rulers and the governed are sick. Both live in a fog of delusions, as the entire society, its rules, and communication are maintained through these notions based on a fear that those in power deliberately use to discipline the powerless.

The Gaggle Music Club: Brahms’s Piano Quartet in G minor, As Orchestrated By Arnold Schoenberg

This week's selection for The Gaggle Music Club is Brahms’s Piano Quartet in G minor, Op. 25, as orchestrated by Arnold Schoenberg.

Johannes Brahms composed his Piano Quartet in G minor, Op. 25, between 1856 and 1861. It is understandable why Schoenberg was eager to orchestrate it. The quartet is a dramatic and expansive chamber work. It is made up of four movements, culminating in the famous “Rondo alla Zingarese.” Clara Schumann, Brahms’s lifelong friend and confidante, had described the piano quartet as “symphonic in breadth and power.” According to her, the quartet’s length (almost 50 minutes), the weight of its four movements and the sheer intensity of the piano part went beyond the intimate scope of chamber music.

The quartet premiered in Hamburg in 1861, with Clara herself playing the piano part in subsequent performances. Even before Schoenberg, musicians had made attempts to turn the quartet into a symphonic work. Friedrich Hermann (a Leipzig violinist and arranger) ...

Teary Merz declares ‘war’ on antisemitism

Friedrich Merz grew visibly emotional at the commemoration of a rebuilt synagogue in Munich last night. The Reichenbachstrasse shul was all but destroyed in the Nazi pogroms of 1938. The German chancellor praised the building as "an expression of Jewish vitality in Germany."

Recalling the memoirs of the woman who initiated the reconstruction, Merz cited her haunting childhood question: “Had no one helped the Jews?”

Merz said he was “appalled” by a resurgence of antisemitism in Germany, calling “Never again” both a duty and a promise. He argued that his country had too often ignored how many newcomers arrived from places where antisemitism is “a state doctrine.”

“From this place I declare war, on behalf of the entire German government, on every form of old and new antisemitism in Germany,” Merz said.

Scoop: At a congress in Amsterdam next month, the Party of European Socialists will permanently exclude Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico’s Smer party, according to three people familiar with the matter.

Smer has been suspended from the umbrella alliance of Europe’s centre-left parties since October 2023, when Fico formed a coalition with a nationalist partner. Now, after months of cosying up to Russia’s Vladimir Putin and China's Xi Jinping, while dismantling institutions and curbing media at home, the socialists have had enough.

The expulsion, expected to be ratified in mid-October, will leave Fico more isolated at the European level, with no route back into the mainstream where he once happily resided. In Brussels and Strasbourg, his lawmakers already operate on the margins of the Parliament, and he has frustrated EU efforts to sanction Russia and reduce reliance on Moscow’s energy.

Smer’s social-democratic coalition partner Hlas will remain suspended, one of the people said. The ...

"Jacobin" Magazine Celebrates A Strike Against Ol' Blue Eyes

Here at "The Gaggle" we have very little time for the "more Leftie than thou" school of thought--that's the approach to life according to which the only thing that matters is whether you take the right position on every issue under the sun from Abortion to Zelensky. No one in the world meets the exacting standards of this school of thought; any Leftie leader anywhere is always selling out to the bankers and the capitalists. The perfect exemplar of this is the unreadable Jacobin magazine.

The other day I came across this article from 2021. It's a celebration of trade union power. And not simply trade union power, but the use of trade union power to secure political goals. Of course (and this is always the case with the "more Leftie than thou" crowd), this glorious, never-to-be-forgotten moment on the history of organized labor took place many years ago--in the summer of 1974 to be exact. Yes, almost half a century has gone by since that thrilling moment when the working-class movement of Australia mobilized and prepared to seize the means of production, distribution and exchange.

Well, not quite. Organized labor went into action against...Ol' Blue Eyes, the Chairman of the Board, the Voice; yes, Frank Sinatra. Why? What had Sinatra done? Sinatra was certainly very rich, and he owned a variety of properties and businesses. But if the Australian trade union movement were, understandably, searching for the bright, incandescent spark that would finally awaken the working class from its slumber there were surely richer, greedier, more dishonest, more decadent, above all more Australian individuals it could have discovered. Australia was never short of them. Rupert Murdoch immediately springs to mind. Why Sinatra?
