The Wall Street Journal, citing U.S. officials, reports that President Donald J. Trump is increasingly leaning toward expanding U.S. military operations against Iran, though no final decision has been made.

According to the report, options discussed in recent Situation Room meetings include broadening airstrikes, targeting Iran's underground Pickaxe Mountain nuclear facility, striking additional energy infrastructure, and potentially seizing Kharg Island or other strategic islands in and around the Strait of Hormuz with U.S. forces.

The Journal reports the discussions follow Iran's renewed attacks on commercial shipping and the collapse of the interim ceasefire, after which the U.S. reimposed its naval blockade of Iranian ports and resumed military strikes. Officials told the Journal that Trump continues to say he prefers a diplomatic resolution, but is seeking options that would increase pressure on Tehran to end attacks on shipping and return to negotiations.

Vice President JD Vance also reiterated that the military campaign is intended to bring Iran back to the negotiating table, saying, "We're not just going to bomb and bomb and bomb. We're going to try to use our military force as one of the many tools that we have to solve the problem."

The collapse of Fidesz, the former governing party, continues to accelerate.

Péter Szijjártó, the former Foreign Minister, who has long been accused of serving foreign interests, officially announced today that he is leaving politics to become the head of a Chinese company for which he previously secured substantial Hungarian state subsidies.

The only difference is that, from now on, Hungarian taxpayers will no longer be paying

for the same “work” — his actual employer will.

In hindsight, it may now be obvious even to Fidesz voters whose interests the former Foreign Minister of the ousted Orbán government was actually serving in connection with the multi-trillion-forint battery and automotive investments. https://x.com/magyarpeterMP/status/2077435417050153235?s=20

According to a release from U.S, Central Command, at 9 pm eastern time, the latest wave of U.S. strikes against Iran, that included strikes on command centers, air defense sites, missile and drone capabilities, and coastal surveillance facilities, ended. Strikes are ongoing while simultaneously, the U.S. blockade of vessels traveling to and from Iran is in effect. https://x.com/sentdefender/status/2077566250192863400?s=20

In a notable development, seen by many as a significant mistake, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has pushed Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov to resign. The move, marks yet another major removal amidst President Zelensky’s ongoing cabinet reshuffle and has been decried by many as an inane decision. Fedorov, who oversaw a significant streamlining and optimization of Ukraine’s then burgeoning defense industry, has been hailed by many an analyst as the reason Ukraine’s defense industry has realized the successes it enjoys today. To add more worry to an already serious problem, the Financial Times has reported that Fedorov’s removal may be linked to his unwillingness to award lucrative contracts to key players within Ukraine’s defense and security space, giving more ammunition to those who hail Zelensky as a corrupt leader, regardless of the truth of the matter.

We will bring together the best of our drone ecosystems underpinned by a drone deal.

Ukrainian ingenuity, tested every day on the battlefield.

And EU industrial strength, able to produce at speed and at scale.

We will reproduce the same with missiles. https://x.com/vonderleyen/status/2077409480455684279?s=20
None of this would have happened had the Russians really wanted to close this thing in 3 days to 3 weeks, not this half-assed retarded attrition war that has snapped back and bit them on the face and ass so many times these days

Just arrived in Kyiv for my 11th visit to Ukraine in wartime.

It’s a special moment. Ukraine has built a strong military momentum. The tide is turning.

I will announce new initiatives to integrate our defence industries.

So we can produce more, and faster.

We will also discuss accession and preparations for this winter. https://x.com/vonderleyen/status/2077261060923396315?s=20

More Leftie Than Thou
"Jacobin" Magazine Celebrates A Strike Against Ol' Blue Eyes

Here at "The Gaggle" we have very little time for the "more Leftie than thou" school of thought--that's the approach to life according to which the only thing that matters is whether you take the right position on every issue under the sun from Abortion to Zelensky. No one in the world meets the exacting standards of this school of thought; any Leftie leader anywhere is always selling out to the bankers and the capitalists. The perfect exemplar of this is the unreadable Jacobin magazine.

The other day I came across this article from 2021. It's a celebration of trade union power. And not simply trade union power, but the use of trade union power to secure political goals. Of course (and this is always the case with the "more Leftie than thou" crowd), this glorious, never-to-be-forgotten moment on the history of organized labor took place many years ago--in the summer of 1974 to be exact. Yes, almost half a century has gone by since that thrilling moment when the working-class movement of Australia mobilized and prepared to seize the means of production, distribution and exchange.

Well, not quite. Organized labor went into action against...Ol' Blue Eyes, the Chairman of the Board, the Voice; yes, Frank Sinatra. Why? What had Sinatra done? Sinatra was certainly very rich, and he owned a variety of properties and businesses. But if the Australian trade union movement were, understandably, searching for the bright, incandescent spark that would finally awaken the working class from its slumber there were surely richer, greedier, more dishonest, more decadent, above all more Australian individuals it could have discovered. Australia was never short of them. Rupert Murdoch immediately springs to mind. Why Sinatra?
