BIG | 🇺🇦🇮🇶‼️‼️ Iranian media claims that Ukraine has established covert operational networks and deployed thousands of microdrones in countries neighboring Iran, including Iraq’s Kurdistan region.

According to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, an unnamed security source alleges that Ukrainian operators have positioned thousands of microdrones in Iraqi Kurdistan as part of a broader network operating near Iranian territory. The source did not identify the other countries allegedly involved or provide independently verifiable evidence of the deployments. Tasnim also referred to an incident in the summer of 2025, when police in Sulaymaniyah announced the detention of three Ukrainian nationals accused of organizing small-drone training for members of a local group. The reported detentions do not independently establish the existence of the wider network alleged by the Iranian source.

The allegations highlight growing concerns in Tehran about the potential spread of Ukrainian drone expertise beyond the war with Russia. Ukraine has developed extensive operational experience with small unmanned aircraft, making such capabilities strategically relevant to other regional conflicts. However, the existence of a Ukrainian-directed network targeting Iran remains unverified, and the claims should be viewed in the context of Tehran’s broader security confrontation with Ukraine’s Western partners.

BIG | 🇪🇺🇷🇺🇨🇳‼️‼️ The European Union has unveiled a new Arctic security strategy aimed at strengthening its defensive capabilities in response to Russia’s military activities and China’s growing strategic presence in the region.

The strategy outlines plans to expand satellite surveillance, strengthen the protection of undersea communication cables, and improve the ability to move military personnel and equipment across the Arctic. The EU is also considering joint purchases of icebreaker vessels to increase operational capabilities in the region’s challenging conditions. Additionally, approximately €260 million from the European Defence Fund is expected to support the development of military technologies designed to operate in extreme climates.

The initiative reflects the Arctic’s growing importance to European security, particularly as Russia maintains substantial military infrastructure in its northern territories and China seeks a larger role in regional affairs. Improved surveillance, resilient underwater infrastructure, and greater mobility could help European countries detect threats earlier and respond more effectively. Strengthening these capabilities would also support NATO’s northern defenses, especially around strategically important maritime routes connecting the Arctic and North Atlantic.

The USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) carrier strike group and the USS Makin Island (LHD-8) amphibious ready group, with the embarked 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU), are headed to the Middle East, two U.S. officials told Fox News. The ships are expected to arrive by the end of November, adding about 10,000 sailors and Marines to the region. Fox reports about 6,000 are in the carrier strike group and about 4,200 in the MEU and Makin Island group, a typical size for such a force.

The Roosevelt would be the third aircraft carrier in the Middle East, joining the USS George H.W. Bush (CVN-77) and USS George Washington (CVN-73). Makin Island would be the second amphibious assault ship with an embarked MEU in the region, alongside USS Boxer (LHD-4) and the 11th MEU. The deployment comes as President Trump has said renewed military action against Iran remains possible after the November 3 midterm elections

More Leftie Than Thou
"Jacobin" Magazine Celebrates A Strike Against Ol' Blue Eyes

Here at "The Gaggle" we have very little time for the "more Leftie than thou" school of thought--that's the approach to life according to which the only thing that matters is whether you take the right position on every issue under the sun from Abortion to Zelensky. No one in the world meets the exacting standards of this school of thought; any Leftie leader anywhere is always selling out to the bankers and the capitalists. The perfect exemplar of this is the unreadable Jacobin magazine.

The other day I came across this article from 2021. It's a celebration of trade union power. And not simply trade union power, but the use of trade union power to secure political goals. Of course (and this is always the case with the "more Leftie than thou" crowd), this glorious, never-to-be-forgotten moment on the history of organized labor took place many years ago--in the summer of 1974 to be exact. Yes, almost half a century has gone by since that thrilling moment when the working-class movement of Australia mobilized and prepared to seize the means of production, distribution and exchange.

Well, not quite. Organized labor went into action against...Ol' Blue Eyes, the Chairman of the Board, the Voice; yes, Frank Sinatra. Why? What had Sinatra done? Sinatra was certainly very rich, and he owned a variety of properties and businesses. But if the Australian trade union movement were, understandably, searching for the bright, incandescent spark that would finally awaken the working class from its slumber there were surely richer, greedier, more dishonest, more decadent, above all more Australian individuals it could have discovered. Australia was never short of them. Rupert Murdoch immediately springs to mind. Why Sinatra?
